Day six - Calcinara to Camogli

Our final day of the walk, this promises more ridge walking east before turning south to the coast at Camogli. The duration is five hours walking for 15km even with some up hill 430m then a long decent down to sea level.
After an excellent breakfast we were off on our final days walk. It was over cast and just damp, but not raining proper.

This area is big on tromp l'oeil
We walked through the village then off on a concrete track labelled Sentiero Panoramico di Casolari this went steeply uphill petering out to a grass track still going up hill, eventually leveling out and contouring the hillside.
The grass, brambles and bracken were already at chest height this was only early May, we put on our water proofs as we were getting soaked bush wacking through, we could make out the hill ahead but visibility was down so couldn't see the radio masts. It was level walking through abandoned terraces, walking just below the ridge until we came to Passo dei Cassetti. Continuing on we eventually get to the top of Mt Tugio at 677m here there are the radio masts that we were supposed to have been able to see but the cloud was too low, view was very poor. We walk along the top of the ridge then descend steeply to the road at Passo Spinarlo and head off along an old cart track through trees.

This slips under the lee of M. Bello  and down to the Passo del Gallo with views down to Recco and the A12.

We are now on the Ruta di Camogli, we ignored the chance to explore Santuario Caravaggio as visibility was poor but we contoured on with views down to the sea.

There were concrete electricity poles stuck in the hillside but the views down were amazing in the murk.

We continued down to the road at  Ruta, then from here it was taking many steep steps down through habitation, keeping crossing roads and going directly down into Camogli. Our accommodation  for the night was the Hotel Cenobio dei Dogi a plush 4 star establishment that two weary walkers turned up at reception. The staff were super couldn't do enough to help, we were in our room drinking tea with our feet up pleased to have completed such a brilliant walk.
After showering and changing  we headed out for a walk round explore and of course a beer, on the seafront in sunshine. Watching the good of Camogli on a Friday evening promenade.

It is a lovely old town that explored seeking out a TripAdvisor restaurant off the beaten track.

We had some superb local food again so good we booked a table for the Saturday evening, and captured the lights coming on in the street as we left.
